Why is it important to coat Timber surfaces?
If your Timber surface no longer has a coating It is no longer protected from elements like Rain, Mould, Sun and Dirt. Once Timber gets exposed and the elements ware away, the Timber quickly starts to undergo perminant damage like Rott and Cracking. Replacing Timber becomes a very expensive task in the long run. Stains and Oils last 12 to 18 months before they need an additional coat. Paint lasts a bit longer at 3 to 4 years before needing a recoat.
What is the suggested Maintenance of my Timber Surfaces?
Timber Surfaces need to be recoated, resealed or re-oiled every 12 to 18 months. It is costly to upkeep Timber Surfaces so there are times when we will reccommend Painting a Timber Surface for longevity and reduced costs to clients. Painting can also look great when natural colours like North West are chosen.
What is the difference between a deck restoration and a rejuvenation?
Deck Rejuvination work is for a deck that has been maintained regularly and semi regularly. A light to medium Sanding and 1 to 2 coats of your selected Stain or Oil is the job specs for this work. We will apply 1 coat to Timber that has had a coat in the last 12 to 14 months and 2 coats to anything 18+ months since its previous coat.
Deck Restoration is for a deck that has been let go for many years but still has potential in the underlying timber grain. It requires a full repunch of all screws, an industrial sanding of timber surface back to bare and a miniumum of 3 coats of your selected Stain or Oil (Sometimes more is required). Bare timber is Hungry and soaks up a large amount of Stain or Oil. Deck restorations get your Deck back to New but yearly Maintenance of 1 coat is still required to avoid you back at square One.

Example - Deck Has not been upkept for 3 years. No coating seen on many timber surfaces now exposed to elemental damage
Example - Deck has had a Rejuvenation Service. Timber has been medium Sanded, Washed with anti-moulding agents, Left to dry completely and then 1 coat of Merbau Stain/Oil applied
Example - Finished Product of Deck Rejuvination Service. Timber has now had 2 Coats of Merbau Stain/Oil applied. Client has been booked in for another 1 coat in 12 months time to keep Timber Decking Maintained.
